How to prepare for a more useful doctor appointment

24 July 2026 4 min read

A little preparation can help you use consultation time well and give your clinician a clearer picture of your health.

Write down the main concern

Note when the problem started, what makes it better or worse, and whether it has changed. Include important symptoms without trying to diagnose the condition yourself.

Bring your current information

Keep a list of medicines, supplements, allergies, previous diagnoses and recent reports. For an online visit, place these documents where you can reach them easily.

Ask what happens next

Before the visit ends, confirm the care plan, warning signs, follow-up timing and where prescribed medicines or investigations will be routed.
